Fluid secreted by the mammary glands of female mammals.
Milk is a highly nutritious food.
It has been estimated that half liter of milk may contribute to the needs of a man for about 90% of calcium, 30-40% of vitamin B2, 25-30% protein, 10% of the iron requirement and vitamin D. from an energy point of view, the whole milk can provide about 700 calories per liter.
There are also alternatives to animal milk, that are suitable for vegetarians, vegan and people with a lactose intolerance and for those who have an allergic reaction to animal products, or those wanting to reduce their fat and/or cholesterol intake.
Milk can be drunk hot or cold or mixed with other drinks; pour on cereals, a basic ingredient in sauces, soups, pancakes and desserts.
