Meat should be wrapped and stored in the fridge and do not allow to touch any other foods. Raw meat an generally be stored for three to five day although offal and minced or processed meat such as sausages can deteriorate more quickly and should be used within two days. Meat that is bought sealed in a pack can be stored unopened. making sure that it is eaten before the use-by date.
Meat can be successfully and safety frozen, following the guidelines below:
- freeze meat before its "use-by" date, preferably on the day of purchase.
- wrap portions in individual freezer bags, seal tightly and label with the date of freezing. They can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months.
- do not refreeze raw meat that has thawed. You can, however, freeze dishes made from thawed meat that you have then cooked.
